About Our Surgery Center

The Northwest Orthopaedic Surgeons' Surgery Center is conveniently located in our Mount Vernon clinic. Our physicians perform a wide variety of surgeries and procedures in the Surgery Center. Along with specially trained staff, our surgeons and physicians provide the highest quality of care in a comfortable setting.

We are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). The accreditation process involves self-assessment by the organization, as well as a thorough review by the Accreditation Association's expert surveyors, who themselves have extensive experience in the ambulatory health care environment.

The Northwest Orthopaedic Surgeons' Surgery Center has been accredited by AAAHC since November, 2001.

When You Arrive at the Surgery Center

You will be asked to change into a surgical gown. Our anesthesiologist will meet you at this time and answer any questions you may have. Relatives or friends are encouraged to wait in our comfortable waiting room. They can join you in the recovery room when you are awake.

Same Day Surgery

Same day surgery, also known as outpatient surgery, means that you can return home the day of your operation. At home, you can recover in the comfort of familiar surroundings and save the cost of an overnight hospital stay.

On the Morning of Surgery

Please arrive in time for pre-surgical preparation. If you are late, your surgery may have to be rescheduled to prevent delaying other patients' surgeries.

Bring all papers your physician has given you, including consent forms, lab reports, x-rays and your preregistration form.

Leave all valuables at home such as watches, wallets, credit cards and jewelry.

If you wear glasses or contacts, please bring a case for their safekeeping.

If you become ill before your surgery or must cancel for any reason, notify your physician or Northwest Orthopaedic Surgeons immediately.

If you think you may be pregnant, please inform us, your surgeon, or the anesthesiologist.

After Surgery

You will be discharged the same day after an adequate period of recovery and observation. Before you leave, nurses will review with you any instructions regarding medications, diet and activities. Please follow your doctor's instructions.

One of our nurses will call you a few days after surgery to check on your recovery and answer any questions.

IF THERE IS A CHANGE IN YOUR PHYSICAL CONDITION, CONTACT NORTHWEST ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEONS AT (360)424-7041 OR CALL YOUR FAMILY PHYSICIAN. IF THIS IS AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL 911.

Insurance Coverage

Same day surgery saves time and money and is endorsed by most insurance carriers, including Medicare and Medicaid. Usually your insurance will pay for all or part of your bill. Your surgery bill may include the cost of the anesthesia, laboratory and nursing care. Your physician and anesthesiologist will bill you separately for his or her own professional services.

We will be happy to bill your insurance company; please bring any insurance information with you, including insurance forms.

If you do not have insurance, or if your insurance only covers a portion of the bill, please make arrangements for payment prior to your admission. We have financial counselors to help make financial arrangements. Cash, personal check, Master Card or Visa are accepted. If you have any questions, please ask; we are here to assist you.

Thank you for allowing Northwest Orthopaedic Surgeons to assist in your care.
